The WGC Yard-Sale-a-Thon:
WGC's Yard Sale-a-thon, May 9 - Thank You!
WGC's Yard-Sale-a-Thon engaged kids, raised money, and inspired a matching gift!
WGC donors and their families cleaned out their closets, garages and basements and raised around $800.
"The WGC's Yard-Sale-A-Thon was a great opportunity to support women and girls in our community and engage neighbors, friends and family in an exciting philanthropic venture" said Buffy Beaudoin-Schwartz, WGC Chair and Yard Sale host. "We had a wonderful neighborhood sale with multiple generations taking part who had had fun and gave back."
WGC donor Anjula Batra, who took part in one of the yard sales with her family, told her aunt about the day and showed her pictures of all the kids involved. Her aunt was so moved that she decided to give a gift to the WGC to match the proceeds of the yard sales. "I was inspired by the pictures of parents and kids joyfully sharing their time and energy for others. It gives me hope..." she said.
"Our yard sale was great!" said Randi Albertsen, a WGC donor who hosted a yard sale and engaged her kids in the event. "My kids were wonderful getting ready before hand and selling that morning, and my daughter even used her own money to buy one of my cakes, and then offered to make another donation to the WGC!" she said.
Thank you to the many WGC donors who coordinated, held, took part in and purchased from the yard sales.
WGC will host another Yard-Sale-a-Thon in the fall, in individual homes and in a central spot. Details to follow - stay tuned!
