The Women's Giving Circle of Howard County is proud to amplify the voices and stories of women givers in our community through our regular series "Our Giving, Our Stories". Inspiring philanthropic leadership and increasing giving by amplifying the voices of women and girls are among the goals of this effort and we are committed to advancing this important work in our community. This August for Black Philanthropy Month we are profiling Rashel Taylor, Consultant, and Owner of RMT Solutions. We asked what motivates her to give her time, talent, and financial resources, and she said: "There are so many people doing meaningful work, sacrificing their time, talent, and financial resources to make life better for others. Seeing that kind of generosity inspires me to find ways to support and strengthen their efforts. It becomes a cycle; people pouring goodness into the world, and others helping that goodness go even further. I deeply value genuine effort. When people give wholeheartedly, something meaningful is created, even if the outcome isn't immediate. And when time, talent, and financial resources are intentionally aligned, they become a powerful force for lasting change." We asked Rashel when she started giving to issues that are important to her, and here's what she said: "Since I was in elementary school honestly. I grew up in a house hold that valued giving what you can to make a difference. And as a child, that was my time. From there, I learned how rewarding and impactful giving your time was, and leaned into volunteering more in spaces that I was passionate about. Eventually that led to having a career fully centered around giving back and supporting others." And, we asked what advice she has for those interested in giving back, and she said: "Give what you can, however you can. There is so much value in showing up, in being present, and in putting your best foot forward. In a time where so much feels out of our control, what you can control is where you do give your time, how you share your talents, and where you spend your money. Don't let anyone diminish the value of that." Here are several organizations that Rashel currently supports: Thank you, Rashel, for all that you do for our community! We are always accepting the names of women throughout the year who may be profiled for their inspiring philanthropic leadership.
