Thank you for considering nominating a woman philanthropist in our community for recognition by the Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County!
The Women's Giving Circle is accepting names of women who live and/or work in Howard County to consider for recognition as part of our yearly "Our Giving, Our Stories" Year-Long Series.
In order to nominate a woman philanthropist - a giver of time, talent or treasure - who enriches the quality of life in our community by supporting the Mission, Vision, Goals and Values of the Women’s Giving Circle, please complete this online nomination form.
All information submitted will be reviewed by the WGC's "Our Giving, Our Stories" Committee, and all those nominated will be contacted directly for more information. All information supplied by the nominator and the nominee will be strictly confidential.

The process is as follows:
- Please review the following days/months/events for which we are seeking nominations - below.
- Select the days/months/events for which you feel you have a nominee.
- You can submit names at any time, there are no deadlines - we'll keep submissions and match them to the day/month/event as appropriate.
- Please read the online Nomination Form carefully to assure that your nominee meets the criteria for nomination.
- Complete the online Nomination Form.
- You may nominate as many persons as you like as long as they meet the basic criteria.

January: Martin Luther King Birthday Celebration
Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., an influential American civil rights leader. February: African American/Black History Month
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in over 400 years of U.S. history. Click here for further information
March: Women's History Month
Women's History Month is to increase consciousness and knowledge of women's history: to take one month of the year to remember the contributions of notable and ordinary women, in hopes that the day will soon come when it's impossible to teach or learn history without remembering these contributions. April: Earth Day
Earth Day is an annual event celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First celebrated in 1970, it now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries. Click here for further information
May: Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month
Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is a period or recognizing the contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States. Click here for further information
June: LGBTQIA+ Pride Month
June-LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. Pride Month is an entire month dedicated to the uplifting of LGBTQ voices, celebration of LGBTQ culture and the support of LGBTQ rights. Click here for further information
July: Independence Day/Spirit of Independence
The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. Click here for further information.
August: Black Philanthropy Month
The primary aims of BPM are informing, involving, inspiring and investing in Black philanthropic leadership to strengthen African-American and African-descent giving in all its forms, for the benefit of our planet, our communities, our organizations and our lives. Click here for further information
September: Hispanic Heritage Month
National Hispanic Heritage Month traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries. Click here for further information
October: National Disability Employment Awareness Month
National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is a national campaign that raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities. Click here for further information
November: National Veterans and Military Families Month
In November, we pause to honor those individuals and families who served our Nation in uniform. They are our mothers and fathers, our brothers and sisters, our children, and our neighbors. Remembering their service is one small way of repaying the debt we owe our Veterans. Click here for further information
