WGC Executive Director Buffy Beaudoin-Schwartz joined the Board of Directors of Maryland Philanthropy Network (MPN) for a funders' reception at the Community Foundation of Howard County to welcome new President and CEO, Danista E. Hunte. Danista joined the MPN team in October 2023 bringing with her a wealth of experience spanning over three decades in the philanthropic and non-profit sector. WGC is a member of MPN and a fund of the Community Foundation of Howard County, and we were excited to meet and build relationships with other MPN funder members, and to welcome Danista and hear her vision for MPN.
![]() The National Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is a nationwide effort to transform the federal holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. into a day of community service that help solve social problems. This is something the WGC believes in! This month we are profiling Claudia Marion Allen in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: When did you start giving to issues that are important to you? "In Middle School I started volunteering at nursing homes, homeless shelters, clothing drives, and even volunteered bagging groceries and carrying them out for the elderly at a local grocery store.
