​We Did It! The WGC's ERN Raises $700 to Support a Woman in Need

The Women’s Giving Circle of Howard County received a request to help with an immediate need in the community through our Emergency Response Network (ERN). - our partners at Grassroots requesting $700 to help a woman in need of a down payment on a car.

And in less than an hour, you responded.

The money you collectively donated will help put a down payment on a car from Vehicles for Change so that this woman can commute to work and her large family of six can get affordable housing. This woman and her family have been living at the Grassroots shelter for several months but they will soon be leaving. She is the sole breadwinner of the family which includes a school-age child, a toddler, newborn twins, and her partner who provides the childcare for the family. She works at the Amazon warehouse in Baltimore but it has been a big challenge for her to get to work and take care of her children without a car, which would allow her to keep her well-paying job to support her family and to find affordable housing for all of them.
